Ok this is most likely a stupid question but here goes.

Got my first macbook today. Loving it so far :D (join the dark side rings bells for some reason :p )

Anyways I am transfering all my Music from my PC to macbook. I plugged in the external and it is now copying over.

So question if the macbooks goes into sleep will it stop coping ? until it wakes up again. (my guess is yes it will stop but you never know)

Oh also how do you cut and paste ? I could only find the command to copy.

lol im learning like you! Got my MBP today too.

Copy and paste are the same using the cmd key + c or v.

Not sure about the sleep issue though.

ahhh cheers for the paste command :p

I must say I am just loving how slick everything is on it. I was going to go for the MBP but I wanted to try the OSX out first before I invested a large chunk. I got my macbook off the MM for a reasonable price.

oh another silly question, I am currently using safari which seems a pretty nice browser on OSX. I noticed in the sticky it says get firefox, ok I use firefox on my PC. But is there any real reason to get it on OSX too ? With PC firefox is by far a better browser (imo) plus the addons are useful.

Is this the case with OSX too ?

Glad to hear another happy PConvert :p

If you close the lid to put it to sleep, yes it will stop the transfers. Not too sure if you just leave it with the lid open - I think in that case it's just idling and won't go to sleep unless it absolutely needs to i.e. low battery.

I've never really used Firefox on Mac. I've installed beta4 to see how it compares but I was always more used to Google Chrome on Windows, and I still use that on my MBP now due to the sync features. There's nothing wrong with Firefox though and it will work equally as well as on Mac as it does on Windows as far as I know.

Safari is good in its own right and I probably use it more than any other browser now as I just prefer the way it works, especially with the new extension support, and is nothing like the version for Windows.

It won't go to sleep on it's own if you've got a file transfer going. I wouldn't advise forcing it to sleep if that's what you're asking, as it'll mess up the file transfer.

Last time I used Firefox on my MBP, I found it very clunky and a bit slow compared to how I was used to it on Windows. I've just stuck with Safari, which is more than a match.

I was just more concerned with if I left the file transfer going and after the 15mins when the power settings kick in and tell the macbook to go to sleep that would screw it up.

I just set my settings to not ever go to sleep and will change it back after the files have been sorted :)
