While browsing in a shop today I was comparing the polycarbonate unibody Macbook with the 13" Macbook Pro next to it. Two things struck me. Firstly the trackpad on the polycarbonate actually felt even better than that on the Pro. The texture is slightly smoother. But on the negative side I noticed that the plastic case had already attracted lots of swirl marks. They weren't quite scratches but I could see that given enough time they would start to make the case look a little grubby and old.

I'm not intending to buy one but it would concern me over the long term durability of the case. For people who have bought one, how are you finding them?

Off topic, but when they start doing a black version of the macbook again I will probably get one!

The new uni body is screaming out for a black, not quite so glossy version.

Although my wallet needs to recover from the 2 Mac's I just purchased.

I believe the swirl marks may be from certain macbook cases. I have seen on the net that people find that the insides of certains cases and certain colours can cause marks or patches. :)

Personally I think the backlit keyboard is the worth the extra money for the pro alone...that aside I hear they seem more robust than the earlier macbooks but I only know a couple of people who have them...

Personally I never got the black thing either, they just looked...odd. Like somebody has designed the shape and everything for a white body and then been told at the last minute it needed to be offered in black too...particularly today they bear a hideous resemblance to some cheap samsung netbooks...
