Macbook V Windows Laptops

What issue you having with your iMac over the Windows system pls

Waking from sleep is the main one, it has just never, ever worked properly. I've done clean installs, multiple calls to Apple and it's never been fixed and drives me potty. Sometimes BT doesn't turn on when I turn the Mac on, happens more often than not, recently Lightroom performance has been plain awful, Chrome crashing/freezing, issues with TM not seeing the QNAP even though everything else on the network can, just off the top of my head.

Windows 8 onwards has Fast Startup hence the cold boot times coming down especially with an SSD. It's a cheat basically - it restores a hibernation file of the OS state from last time it successfully booted and was ready for a user login. Hold down left-shift and pick Shut Down or Restart and it will do the full process which takes considerably longer.

That said with modern machines and SSDs doesn't everyone just shut the lid and let it sleep/hibnernate? My Mac only gets rebooted usually when there's a OS X point update.

Really depends on the user. I've never had issues with slow down, even during XP times, outside of a disk defrag every once in awhile. However my dad installs all sorts of crap and even to this day has issues with speed. He has my old laptop that has an i7 quad core with HT, 6990m, 16GB ram, Samsung 830 SSD, and it gets slow after 1 year of usage on W10, such that I re installed it.

And there in lies the problem, PEBCAK. More windows users seem to install so much random tat they shouldn't. Not sure if its because there is more available or because most aren't as computer literate/older.

I close the lid with all sort running, VMs on Docker at work, all my IDE, 3 chrome windows, Safari, Firefox, iPhone simulator etc etc. I come back after a weekend and its at 95% battery life and just turns on right away. I only restart my laptop with OS updates and so far its been awesome, I like the idea of just opening my lid and everything is right where I left it.

Pretty much the same here. No need to shut stuff down.

More rope to hang yourself on. Its not really something MSFT can fix, its easy to make crapware for windows, at the same time you can find a app to do just about anything.

Nearly Walked away with a Top of the Range MBP earlier but stopped myself as I really want the new version but it could be any time up till xmas..

Problem is the hardware is much cheaper but Apple won't change their price. Why buy 2-3 year old hardware for todays prices. If your getting a laptop I would not buy it brand new.
