Hello everyone,

Thinking of selling my mac mini that i bought around mid October07, since then installed Leopard and since i was a "Switcher" am now pleased with my Mac.

However now i'm thinking of selling it and buying a macbook instead, so with the money i think i can raise from sale of said mac mini want to see about buying a mac book should i buy a used one with the 802.11g standard wifi or the latest mac book with 802.11n standard as i have 20mb cable broadband and use a 'Time Capsule' with the 802.11n standard too will it make a difference speed wise for browsing etc?

Many thanks for your opinions in advance :D

the difference will not be that noticeable on the broadband. So if you want to save some penny's get a second hand one, otherwise new and fresh all the way.

Could do with saving money so tempted to go for a second hand one, but with the new having the 'N' standard wifi that's edging it a touch as i thought 'N' wifi would be noticeable. But from your experience if you say i won't notice then that's good enough for me. ;)

The biggest problem with the old MacBooks is that they are only Core Duos. Any Core 2 Duo MacBook has 802.11n.

Ok that's good info, i may just hold out buying one then for a while and try and get one from the states. ;)

It would have to be first-gen to be a Core Duo though. I bought mine in November 2006 after the move to Core 2 Duos, would have thought they would be pretty decently priced second hand by now.

So yours is 'N' wifi standard then?

Uhmm been looking @ the bay and they're still going for anything £400 upwards, seeing that the new ones if i can get one from the states i can basically pick one up for the equivalent of what we pay here but without the VAT.

Ok thanks that makes sense to me as I remember them being sold plus having that update via software, so that means anything that was bought the end of 2007 @ start of this year is wifi n & also core 2 duo too.
Thanks for that info, I may just save myself some £'s.
