Hi,

I'm using MacDrive on my Windows machine because my 2TB external is HFS+ formatted. I don't have the space to back it up and convert it back to NTFS.

Unfortunately they have no plans to update MacDrive 7 to support Windows 7, and I'll be damned if I'm paying for the upgrade fee for MacDrive 8 when it's essentially just a driver that I've already spent $50 on!

Anyone know of a (preferably free) alternative that will let me use my HFS+ formatted drive in Windows?

Not sure this will help but I just discovered HFSExplorer, it's an open source piece fo software from sourceforge works fine in Windows 7. The only thing I don't think it does islet you write to the hard drive, only read off of it. I know you were looking for something free to allow you to write to the HDD but this is the closest thing I can find that is free and not that horrid macdrive software.
