MacHacha zip compatibility

I've been using Machacha as a file splitter in trying to transfer large files form my mac to PC due to the 4gb limitations on my FAT portable. However, almost every single possible zip format is unrecognised by either 7zip or Winrar once it reaches my PC. Does anyone know which zip compressions can be picked up by both platforms? Am tearing my hair out here as my macbook pro is running out of disk space and I'm expecting more DV tape footage at the end of hte week =/

Just regular winzip would do it.

Could you not just install either MacDrive on the PC's or MacFuse and NTFS-3G on the Mac's?

And therefore use a modern FS like HFS+ or NTFS
