Hi could anyone help, I have a problem with my pc. yesterday my win8 pc crashed and go stuck in a automatic repair loop, I tried to re-install windows 7 and 8 but keep getting a bsod machine_check_exception error, I have stripped everything out of the pc so it's down to the minimum motherboard one stick of ram and cpu, but what ever combination I try I keep getting the error.

My specs are all stock

i7 2600k
Gigabyte z77x-d3h
Corsair xms3 4Gb x 4
Onboard intel 4000 / 7990 removed 7990
Corsair TX 650W

I have narrowed it down to CPU, motherboard or PSU.

Thanks

Tried that, updated to the up to date one as well, it just crashed and now won't boot or install so it's not a hdd/windows problem. Logged a support ticket with gigabyte as I think it's the board but with it being holidays it could take a while to get a response. I don't have another psu to test unfortunately but thought minimum hardware won't stress it.

I have been doing some testing and I found that if I disable one of the four cores it boots up, but I don't know if this could be a motherboard issue or the cpu issue, I have ran prime 95 for over a hour with three cores in windows with no issues and four cores with a DOS boot cd again with no issues.
