MACHINE DOESNT ALWAYS SHUT DOWN

new to the forum guys so go easy.....
recently my machine has been playing up alittle.....when i go to shut it down it hangs on the closing screen sometimes indefinate others for maybe 30 secs more and sometimes not at all.....i think its been from a windows update but not sure which one if at all. anyone have any ideas?

Might also be useful if you tell us what operating system it is. I'll assume it a variant of Windows.

Suggestion : Check the event logs
Suggestion 2 : Try the Windows forum, not General Hardware.
