Machine Not Powering Up

Okay,

I gave my rig to my mate for a few months (I wasn't using it), I get it back yesterday and the thing isn't powering up.

I know the power supply is receiving power and providing it to the motherboard because one of the LEDs on the motherboard is on. My next suspicion was that the line between the power button and the motherboard became damaged or disconnected but it does seem secure.

Any suggestions on the next course of action. If a component is dead which one is likely to cause these symptoms.

No post, no beeps. Other than the LED on the motherboard it is as if I haven't plugged it into the mains. Nada.

Thanks,
Dev.

I was thinking something like that might work but what could I use that could jump the motherboard input?
Obviously this is a diagnostic solution and not a long term one. I'll check the user manual and see what voltage it needs for a '1'.
It is a clever idea at least we're on the same page.

My understanding is that there are two pins on the system panel regarding the power input. One is GND (0v) and the other PWR (prob 5v) how would a screwdriver short them?

Surely I would have to connect a 5v output to the 5v input? I just don't know what outputs 5v.

I'd start taking out things one by one first see if that changes anything before going in with a screw driver :>
