Hey Guys!

Im looking for an upgrade. Ran a couple of new games recently and was a bit disappointed with frame rates and what have you. Also driving me nuts using a goddamn mechanical HDD. Thing is slow as ****

So I currently have:

Intel Xeon E5530 (Stock 2.4) on a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 2.0 (Running on quiet cooler - not suitable for overclocking)
3GB of some random RAM I picked up in work
ASUS HD6770 DirectCU GPU
7.5K rpm sata drives

Games I've been running don't seem to be stressed by CPU, however I could do with an overclock for the hell of it.
RAM sucks, needs replacing.
GPU was at 100% load with new games - needs to go!
HDD space wise.. I dont need lots, however mechanical drives are driving me nuts.

Cash wise.. I'd be happy spending under a grand I guess.

So im thinking..

H100 cooler to give the CPU a beef up (Needs to be quiet, i sleep next to PC)
Some new RAM (Cheap as chips nowadays?)
GPU - this is what was stressed during playing games.. any suggestions?
SSD. 128GB maybe? Probably even get away with a 64 GB.

Any certain hardware recommendations or whatever you may suggest are welcome. Thanks Guys.

Hi.

What PSU do you have?
What case do you have?

How about this,

YOUR BASKET
1 x PowerColor HD 7850 PCS+ Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card w/ Nexuiz & Dirt Showdown PC Games £189.95
1 x Samsung 128GB SSD 830 Desktop Series SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive - (MZ-7PC128B/WW) £79.99
Total : £280.74 (includes shipping : £9.00).

And this RAM - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-109-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1389

Then depending on the case, add a reasonable air cooler.

you have free p&P just upgrade the gpu and ssd first
if that isnt good enough, then you can upgrade more

ps: the h100 isnt exactly quiet lol

Thanks so much for the quick replies guys. :D

Running windows 7 x64

Case is a A77F Lian Li

PSU is a Antec 550w "VP550P"

Should mention that all my games I run at 1920x1080/120hz and im quite partial to a bit of AA/AF :)

How do you crate those links :(

I am thinking that.

The SSD is SATAIII, your board is SATAIII via a thrid party chip, it will still be fast:)

Saves me cash too! Nice. Thank you man :D

And I guess in future I can always upgrade PSU and get another of the same card for crossfire =)

You can indeed add another card in CF with a PSU upgrade:)

Hey stulid, just a query..

Was thinking, considering i'm after the best FPS possible (minimum of complete stable 120fps) at 1080p, regardless of game settings (well.. aa/af are a consideration) Would i be better upgrading my PSU now and getting a better card right away?

Just wondering the best way to utilize the cash. I'm not questioning your judgement, just something we didn't hit on :D

Why 120 FPS? The human eye only sees up to 55-60 FPS so your wasting it :p
