Just getting back into Macs after 5 years away and already finding it frustrating.

My current issue is that I can't find a way to control the volume when connected to a HDMI monitor. Several google searches have pointed to Soundflower, but this doesn't seem to exist anymore.. Does anyone have a way to do this simple task?
