Currently considering/looking for a macro lens for my D50.

Idealy i'd like to spend between £200 and £250 on the lens.

I'm considering the Tamron 90mm Di f/2.8, but the Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D lens is also within my price range.

I've read reviews, and for that price, most people have said the Tamron is the better choice. Just wondering if anyone here has experiance of either lenses?

The sigmas are also worth looking at, ive got the f2.8 50mm and its absolutly tack sharp. If you can afford the 105mm its prolly well worth it (can be had for 200 ish imported)

Sigma 105mm if you can get it for the money (or can strech!)

Pretty nice shots there mate.

The Sigma 105mm is about in my price range. Is it any good for portrait shots?
I've some portrait shots with this lens and they're really nice, tack sharp because it's a macro lens and gives lovely bokeh. I can't say anything from first hand experience, but from what i've seen it works fine for portraits as well :)

random one from the 50mm

the 105 will give you a bit more working distance which is useful if you wanna take insects etc
