Any advice welcome.
Looking for some advice based on anyone's experience of Macro lenses.
I've got a Nikon D200 and am looking at 3 lenses.
Nikon 105mmmm/2.8 VR at around £520
Sigma 105mm/F2.8 at around £320
Tamron 90mm/F2.8 at around £280

I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has experience of these lenses whether Nikon or other fit. (or perhaps even another make of lens?)
Thanks in advance. :)

I have no experiance with the tamron, but out of the sigma an nikon, it depends on the budget. If you have the money go for the nikon, its a cracking lens.

Thanks guys, sounding like the Nikon is the fave rave. It is a bit pricey, but probably best to try and get it rather than buy a cheaper one and always wondering if I made the right choice.
Next month's payday is only 3 weeks away! :D

If you are happy to spend the money on the Nikon, then maybe think about also the

Sigma 150 F2.8 Macro HSM

would give you more reach and is very highly regarded.

I'll have a look thanks ;)

I've read a couple of reviews and they indicate that this is also a great lens. What a sod - that adds another one to the list. Only drawback seems to be the requirement for a tripod. Mind you, I suppose it's always best to use a tripod anyway, for all shots if poss! :)

Click my sig for some photos with the 150mm (macro section an eye macros)

Nice Eyeballs!

From "what I've heard" the Tamron is a very nice Macro lens and is actually sharper than the Canon and Nikon equivalents but it has other things that are not quite so good, like resistance to flare and stuff like that.

If you want bonus re-sale value get the Nikon if you want a comparable lens then just get the Tamron and save some bucks I say. Get to a shop and try some out if you can!
