I'm looking for opinions on what Macro lense to get for my 350D. Currently I’m looking at

Canon 100mm F2.8 costing about £380
Tamron 90mm F2.8 costing about £280

Both are meant to have good image qualities.

Ideally I would prefer the Canon but it more expensive. On the plus side it more or less guaranteed to work on future Canon cameras, unlike 3rd party lenses. Which means a high resale value if I decided to sell. A third option I’ve ignored is the sigma 105mm F2.8 due to Sigma past track record on compatibility of lenses.

What are your views on the lenses and are there any more suggestions?

Decided to get the Canon 100mm F2.8 and import it to save money. The lense was only about £270 but after shipping and customs finding out it cost me £367. The saving of £25 is hardly worth the hassle of purchasing it abroad.
