Hello,

I've started playing bf2 online, and noticed that on big 64 player maps (only on 64 player maps tho.) it lags occasionally due to insufficient ram (I see always when it lags hdd led lit up.), ive fixed this by closing all unneeded apps and disabling AV for when gaming, however im tired of restarting it after game is shut down and closing it before gaming, is there some kind of program or macro wich i can set so when i launch bf2.exe, it automaticly shuts down stuff like realshed.exe, imapp.exe, peerguardian, explorer.exe, iexplorer.exe, probe2.exe, msnmsgr.exe, etc... (all unneeded apps to run bf2) and when i shut bf2 so it restarts them (as i really use them when not gaming) automaticly.
Is there a way to do this, as im losing about 3 mins each time on shutdown and launch of bf2 on the background apps.

Thanks in advance.

I want it to happen automaticly, not by using .bat files as takes me a bit tto open them too (and making em 1st).

bat files take 1 sec to use then start ** game as normal damn ** so lazy mate. :p

But yeah if ppl know better more streamlined way then plz post.

To be honest, you'll be MUCH better off with 2Gb or ram for BF2 !

What setings do you run BF2 at? Something like 1280x1024 with medium to high settings ?

Everything maxed kept for AA 1248x1024, 2x AA, max AF, rest maxed too.
I know but knowing its ok when i free up more ram space...

Start BF2, load into a game then Alt-Tab to the desktop. Open Task Manager and look at the memory usage for BF2. Closing programs ain't going to help really. Get into the store and buy some ram. :D

It's all just too close to your 1Gb real ram limit.

It does help, and i know, i usally clean my ram till i have 900 mb free, just a matter of knowing what to close. I am planning o get more ram with core2duo upgrade, but till then (xmas) ill have to do with what i have.
Just wanted to know if theres a program that reacts with : if game1.exe is ran kill dumbprogram.exe and kill anotherdumbprogram.exe and once game1.exe is closed restart dumbprogram.exe etc...

Can the Windows scheduled task utility do this? I haven't used it in a long while but most other systems make it easy to dictate "When x program starts run y script" You'd then write a batch file that kills the processes you want to kill and the scheduler would take care of running it.

How about having a separate gaming only Windows login? With no user services running, and more tweaked towards gaming than windows?
