Last week we handed in our months notice for the flat we're currently renting. Why? Because we've been told it should be possible for the flat we're buying to be all completed by the end of this month i.e. it'll be ours by then. Now some things that I suppose could backfire

1. It doesn't complete by the end of the month and we end up living with the gf's parents for a week or two while it does
2. Everything falls through and we end up with no where to live.

So are we mad? The reason we gave notice on the flat is we don't fancy paying Augusts rent aswell as the first payment of the mortgage.

I dont understand. Is this a rant / complaint at being mad or an outline of things that would make you mad?

I'm asking are we mad for handing in our notice for the flat already when it's not definate that the sales process will be complete by the end of the month.

I've just re-read my OP I don't see what's confusing?

So you could be out on your heels all because you want to save a few. Personally I'd have paid for the next month as a buffer zone, just incase it does all fall through.

Madness needs to be medically proven.
Stupidity is something observational that might make its head shown if it fails.

Time will tell.

...or at all.

Yes you are mad.

If you're renting privately, it's almost certain the landlord will let you stay a bit longer if its delayed. Unless he's got another tennant ready to move in :p

yeah that's the thing the estate agent is coming round our current place today to spec the flat up ready for advertisment :o

Wait until you've signed and sealed the deal on the flat you're buying before giving notice on your current place. As soon as you do that the landlord will start looking for new tennants.

well i've just txt'd the landlord asking him to call me when poss to discuss the possibility of paying part rent for August as a backup plan in case things go wrong.
