Brutal, but if a child rapist is 100% no doubt whatsoever guilty, chop 'em off!

Realistically, "100% no doubt whatsoever" is vanishingly rare. Unless you're literally arrested during the act, and the arresting officer(s) have recorded the whole thing, then there must always be some doubt. Is it a setup? Is officer corruption a factor? Are witnessing lying? Is there a conspiracy? (No I'm not a fan of CT, but the possible existence thereof must necessarily decrease the probability of guilt by some small number).

The chances of not being guilty might be vanishingly small, but I don't think you can realistically say you've established guilt 100% in most cases. So then it's a question of "What level of proof is good enough?"

This is part of the problem with the death penalty, etc. If the bar is 100% proof then that's not really achievable.

If this happened here I would be less inclined to concern but in a country with a questionable political and judicial system (I may not think much of ours but there are redeeming qualities)? I can easily imagine the threats to political opposition that something like this brings.
