Made a real pig's year of the following. It's the top end of the garden which is pretty much out of sight, out of mind.

The garden is a pretty blank canvas (apart from what you can't see lower down the garden * not in the picture)

You can't really see the top end of the garden apart from the angle i have taken this picture.

Now, it might look "OK" but it's really not up to scratch. I clearly do not have the artistic flare or knowledge to give this a go. I am thinking of bringing in a landscaper.

Yesterday's effort.

i have over 1200L compost in this patch, that i don't like (do not need anywhere else in garden) with the added bonus of making a hash job of the border.

i have been looking at designs and thinking something along the lines of; Naturally this is a well established garden but something in keeping with this design.

Any suggestions, am i better of leaving this till Spring before bringing someone in to sort out my mess?

I'd personally waituntil spring but maybe there is a landscaper near you that can offer advice/quote for free

but I guess it really depends on what you growing in your garden.
ever though about just adding a few raised beds and growing some veg?

Worth asking a landscaper now as the good ones like to plan their work early. If you wait too long, they may already have other jobs/projects pencilled in for the Spring.

Have a look around a garden centre for some plants you like the look of. I find they are really helpful and give some great advice at my local independent garden centre.

Looks like it needs some larger shrubs/bushes to fill the space and add a bit of height at the back. Yours looks a bit like what you find in a stock game before you add a mod to add more lush scenery :p.

That end fence panel is crying out for a large mirror IMO, to extend the path onward. Cover edges with clematis etc.
otherwise the garden just stops dead and the swoopy path looks odd.

Or a custom fit shed, sheds are always useful.

A mirror is a nice idea, I mentioned I don't have this "artistic flare, and garden knowledge. I love the idea of a pond / water feature.

Initially, I never expected to spend so much time out in the garden but this summer we have loved it (first house). Family BBQ, parties, and just generally relaxing into the late night by the firepit.

As for the shed, mmm there is a double garage at the other end of the garden. The right of the curved grass, is a huge space where the house ends (hidden from the first picture) Initially I was thinking a hot tub because the back garden is totally secluded - it backs onto a forestry that is protected from any type of development. Arhhh "so many ideas"
