All,

Been a while since I posted here, but I made a pretty large mistake due to a typo in google. I was being nice to myself getting a few upgrade to my Rig, 8Gig to 16Gig of Ram, Graphics card upgrade from a 760 to a 970 Geforce and the last one where the typo came in was a Samsung SM951 512GB M.2 PCI-e Gen3 8Gbps x 4 AHCI Solid State Drive http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-208-SA

The typo was this, could my motherboard take this card. I have the Gigabyte Z87-SLI board which only has PCIe, I typed Gigabyte Z97-SLI which has the m.2 card slot. So was going to RMA the nice part back to overclockers, but then I had a thought! PCIe Adaptor cards? http://www.lycom.com.tw/DT-120.htm But I am not sure if it will work properly/well if at all and if I would be hogging bandwith on the motherboard, a fair bit of the jargon is way above my paygrade. I would really like ot keep the Samsung drive, but I think my options are severly limited, the drive would be the main OS Drive also.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

Vic

Would have to be run in the 2nd PCI-E 16x slot on your board, which I think would cause both the first slot to run @ 8x. Maybe someone could confirm that.

You wouldn't notice tbh, it wouldn't bottleneck the 970 I don't think.
