You dont need the sound card.

Is a pre-built the best option for you? you prefer it this way?

I have looked into the individual parts, and would save roughly 400 pounds. however i would have little to no backup if things went wrong + the time it will take to build it, overclock it etc etc. plus postal charges would certainly add up. I think I will put the responsibility of the build in a professionals hands.

Thats all I wanted to here:)

Sounds like you have thought it through.

It is all a little daunting as all I have had the past five years is an imac for video editing. now i want a proper machine and the options are ridiculous.

is the chosen power supply enough? any other pointers before i switch off for the night?

Thanks

The PSU is enough, gold rated efficiency so it consumes less power from the wall, fully modular cables and the fan doesnt start to spin until 20% load, then cranks up at around 60% to the next speed.

Huge case by the way;)

lol
he's going to buy 2 GTX580s and you are worrying about a £20 soundcard?

and also vertex 2E SSD could be changed for something different. there's plenty of new, faster SSDs

it is true that he's probably not going to hear any difference between onboard audio and a proper sound card with those cheap speakers but it would be a big difference with better speakers or headphones.

Is the case not overkill since its not going to be a watercooled rig?

- Corsair Hydro H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler?

lol, I know what you mean just jesting you, the case will obviously last years with its size and construction, an investment if you will:)
