Made a mistake installing CPU cooler

I installed my CPU cooler this afternoon and just noticed that I put it on the wrong way round as it is now blocking the 16x PCI-E slot. Can I just take the cooler off and turn it around or should I remove and then reapply the thermal paste before putting it back on? I only applied the paste this afternoon so it should still be fairly fresh.

Any help is appreciated :).

Aye just lift it up and turn it to where it needs to be, make sure the fan is still exhausting straight out the back though, if that's your setup.

Re-apply the thermal paste.

It's got nothing to do with it being fresh.

It needs to spread properly to fill in the tiny gaps between the CPU and the base of the cooler.

It's unlikely to do that properly if the paste has already been spread with the cooler in a different orientation.

Also hes added air bubbles too by not reapplying it. Always reapply if you remove the cooler or atleast add a blob in the middle over the paste that is there and let the cooler spread it out to take out the air.

This +1
ALWAYS apply new TIM if yo have moved or lifted the cooler!
