Mafia 2 and DRM

only good (as in not bad) DRM is steam DRM, no messing around with having the disk in the drive and only one user per key but you can install it on as many PC's as you want, but only one can play at a time

Missing the point: When you buy a game, you don't want a number of activation limits. Your not "renting" the game. When you reformat due to a virus or updating hard drives etc and you want to replay the game or even want to play the multiplayer aspect of the game for a few years and you have used up your activation limits then do they expect us to repurchase the game?

You also don't want an invasive SecuROM system to install without permission crap on your system and especially a DRM that received a lot of criticism. I'm in favour of a Steam DRM system.

What I don't understand is how activation limits helps combat piracy but rather turn gamers towards it.

Who cares? play the game, then move on with life?

Don't see anything wrong with them limiting the number of times you can install? Having strictly one install per copy would be fine then? No problem being required to have a constant internet connection whilst playing (e.g. your connection cuts out for a split second and the game shuts off with all your progress lost)? What about some hidden, automatically-installed spyware that noticeably slows down your PC even after you un-install?

Absolutely no qualms about any of that, eh?

Some people like to play it more than once you know which makes DRM an issue, idiotic comment.

If you're just playing it once, go and rent the game.
