Mafia II - Bug or am i doing something wrong

i'm stuck currently on chapter 10 (i think)

basically Veto's house was burnt down and Joe has let him have Marty's old place. We go and give the irish boys a pasting and then i have to drop Joe at home before going onto Marty's house.

Problem i have here is, i drop Joe off and he starts to walk home so i drive away. Next thing i know he's sat next to me on the way to Marty's house and i can't get rid of him.

I go inside but can't sleep on the bed or do anything. The red marker stays over the house and Joe follows me around everywhere.

I'm thinking i may have to go back a chapter if this continues as it's doing my nut
 
Sounds like a bug to me, try going back a chapter and if that doesnt work, sounds like its re-install time :(

I've heard a lot about the game being full of bugs, but i played it through flawlessly :)

full of bugs? There was one bug in chapter 14 and that got fixed I think. Otherwise it is perfectly smooth.
The problem in OP sounds like some weird glitch though, definitely restart chapter.
 
Was wondering that myself there are some little game breaking things like that in non-legit copies. Not ran into that bug myself when playing.
 
So, an old thread, but was there any resolution to this?

I have the same glitch. Steam version of the game.

I think it's something to do with Joe not going home. He's supposed to go to his apartment, but whenever I load this checkpoint, he get's out the car and then after a few seconds turns around and gets back in. If I drive off, he just reappears in the car after a little while.

When I get to Marty's apartment, I can change clothes, turn on lights, etc, but there is no option to sleep in the bed.

I CBA playing the whole chapter again... please tell me there's a solution to this?
 
Yeah, tried that. Then I get another glitch where the game acts like you're in an apartment when you go back out (i.e. can't use weapons, can't jack or enter cars).. but Joe still follows me.

Aha, I thought... maybe if this is a new glitch, I can run to Marty's and sleep! So I did (which took bloody ages!), and it didn't make any difference... :(
 
Could you go into Joe's apartment, leave and shut the door before he comes out? Or will he open the door himself? I'm really clutching at straws here. I think you're just going to have to take it on the chin and replay the chapter.

Edit: Even if Joe gets trapped in his apartment, it seems the problem is the game not recognising he has arrived home (as you've already taken him to his apartment and the game registered nothing). So, I think you will just have to replay the chapter.
 
Gah, and it's a really annoying chapter too. Quite long and not that interesting :(

I've tried downloading some save games, but when I put them into my Mafia II save folder, it doesn't recognise them. Any hints on that, as well, anyone?

EDIT: NVM. Have finally got a downloaded save game working from the point I left off at. All cool :)

Replaying my way through this game and also just now had the same issue with the OP. Searching for a savegame online solved the issue. Can't believe how buggy the game is the second time around as it was flawless when it first came out.
