Mafia: The Old Country

Sounds like a great concept, looking forward to this. I felt like they lost their way a bit with Mafia 3 and wasn't sure if / how they'd bring it back.

Interesting, big fan of Mafia 1 and recently replayed it.

I'll stay optimistic with this and like the idea of an earlier setting. I enjoyed mafia 2 but I think it started to go a little downhill.

Mafia 2 was decent in many ways, the atmosphere at times was great, but some poor attitudes by some of the developers undermined it - who begrudged players having any enjoyment out of the game they didn't expressly pay for so made it hard to break out of the mission progression to just explore and enjoy the open world side and saw some good content cut. Pretty sure if they could have found a way to make the game pay per minute or whatever they would have.

To be honest Mafia 2 is more the kind of setting/era that interests me, not sure 1900 Sicily does it for me though it is a big part of the whole mafia story.

Mafia 1 ranks as the best PC game I've ever played. I haven't played the new definitive version however and I don't think I want to really.. 2 was ok but I preferred 3.

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this one.

For me it was alarm bells ringing when the devs spent a collossal amount of time showing off trailers and DLC roadmaps before the game had even launched. I delayed a purchase because of that. Sadly I found the ingame world absolutely dull and stale as there was sod all to really do or see outside of missions. Agree with your comments about PPM though!

Quite a bit of that got cut or pulled from development related to wanting people to pay for DLCs for anything beyond the main mission arc, I think they were publisher level rather than those working on the game but there was two 2K people active online who had really poor attitudes towards their customers in this respect and even threatening to sue people for playing beyond the demo time limit or breaking out the demo bounds.

Time limits on demos has always bugged me personally IMO no developer does that who genuinely wants people to enjoy their game.
