I recently bought a Ryzen 5 3600/MAG B550 TOMAHAWK combo from the OcUK Members Market. I paired it up with a Logitech Streamcam for my Google Meets with colleagues. I plugged the camera into the motherboard's rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port and found that after a varying amount of minutes into a Meet the microphone would fail and I'd get an error message showing. The only way to get the microphone to work again was to refresh the browser page and it'd be OK for a few minutes until it happened again.
If I plug the camera into a USB-C to USB-A adapter and use the rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 port then the issue is fine. The only way I can plug the camera directly using it's USB-C connector is to plug it into the USB-C port on the front of my case. However the issue with this is that the cable on the Streamcam is on the short side.
I've installed the latest AMD B550 chipset drivers having initially used MSI's drivers from the motherboard page.
A colleague thinks I could be running out of PCI-E lanes by running the Streamcam off the rear USB-C port. Is this possible? Is there anything I can do to be able to plug the camera into the rear USB-C port and not have the microphone fail on me? If not I'll look for a USB-C male to female extension lead so I can use the front case port instead.
