ok, so having a bit of a look around i came across mangeia, which is made by the people that made mandriva, i think. from the screenshots it looks very similar to mandriva, just wondered if anyone had tried it, as its a far bigger download than mandriva, so i guess it must include more?

It's just a FOSS fork of Mandriva, that's all. Nothing special to me since I haven't ever really used Mandriva. If there's more in the download then yeah, there's more pre-installed by default, but that's neither here nor there since you're free to add and remove software in any Linux system.

well i gave it a go. it felt and looked too much like mandriva to be honest. couldnt for the life of me get truefonts to install on it so gave up and went back to mandriva and mint debian.
would really like to get it to do a dual/tri boot with windows 7 on my laptop, but when i did a test on an old drive when i went to install linux it took out the windows boot :(
