Magic, lots of magic!

For a more 'arcadey' RPG, you could always try Dragon Age 2. It got hammered when it was released, but that's because it wasn't Dragon Age 1 - it's actually a fairly enjoyable romp with some excellent characters if you give it a chance (and overlook its flaws). This just means you'll likely get it pretty cheap.

It's decent fun to play through as a mage, moreso than a non-mage too. (And if you do, always have Isabela as a party member, without fail :P)

I am bored of my current game selection again haha. Almost finished ME1, not played Dark Souls for a couple of weeks now...

I want some insane RPG/Action adventure magic battles!

I thought Two Worlds 2 would be pretty good but apparently not? Thoughts?

My requirements are it has to be fairly new, nothing like Balders Gate 2.

Also, if I can use my 360 controller I will love it even more as then I get to play it on the sofa via the 50" plasma :D

Risen
Risen 2 (don't heed the negativity surrounding this game, its great!)
Ego Draconis (DKS)

(Risen 2 only one for which is ideal for gamepad)

EDIT: And I noticed that the Gothic games get a mention above. If you are prepared to go back a generation or two then the Gothic games offer the ultimate in immersive RPG action. Gothic 2, Night of the Raven was easily the best of the three Gothic games, but Gothic 3 is also an excellent and much more epic game in its own right, just be sure to get the latest Community Patch for it, as Gothic 3 in its vanilla form was a complete train wreck of a game.

I see gothic 3 gets mentioned a lot but what about Gothic 4? I've played about 3h of it and it seems easy but fun. How does it compare to 3?

Fans of the first three Gothic games generally hate Gothic 4.

Gothic 4 was made by a completely different studio and although it is a continuation of the Gothic story, with many of the same key characters, Gothic 4 lacks the depth and style of the previous Gothic games.

Gothic 4 is essentially just another mindless hack n slash game, but with tons of bugs and performance issues. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Having said that, I have a mate who loved Gothic 4 but could never be bothered with the earlier Gothic games. He actually completed the game whereas I couldn't bring myself to play after the 2nd or 3rd 'gate'. All depends on what you want from a game.
