Just curious as to your previous experience with the Magic Mouse or Track Pad, Which you prefer and use daily for what specific tasks is it beneficial to the other? Or is it just down to personal preference as I seem to be hesitating to treat myself to a Trackpad for my 27" iMac.

I had both for about two weeks, I couldn't get on with the Trackpad and stuck to the MM.

Now with Lion the trackpad could be better, However prepare to put in a little adjustment time.

its strange how you can alternate... I feel completely natural using the trackpad on my MBA (running lion) but then am perfectly fine switching to my wacom intuos 4 mouse on my iMac at work even though the scroll is the other way etc...

I'm not a massive fan of the magic trackpad, personally I don't feel the ergonomics are right because your hand is at an angle using it as its sloped.

Would be awesome if it was flat like on the Macbook range.

Its a pretty subjective question that only you can really answer. Personally I prefer the trackpad for everything except photoshop.

I tried the magic mouse and detested it, it felt awkward and really nasty. It was just far too low for the way I hold a mouse.

The trackpad is a dream. I have no problems using it whatsoever and I find it very comfortable to use for long periods of time. I wouldn't want to go back to a mouse again.

I would have to agree with Feek,

When using my Dads iMac with both I will always use the trackpad, but he will always use the mouse. Each to their own I guess.

I really like the trackpad, It's fantastic. However, I do alternate between the two pretty much automatically. Some tasks really benefit from the gestures, others, I do like using the mouse.

Yeah touched up on a few points which i find are the issues, it looks beautiful but feels horrific and having to use a 3rd party application for it to be sensitive enough cannot be right, will deffo treat myself to a track pad with student discount. Cheers, guess a little discussion is what it needed for me to part with some cash I would only pee it up the wall otherwise on a poor night out in Sheffield town!

I agree with this. I have both on my Mac Pro, I really love how the trackpad feels (especially on Lion) the magic mouse is very uncomfortable for me.

The trackpad would be better for general computing (e.g. web browsing) as it's got more gestures and is easier/quicker to use, but for anything with more precision required (e.g. photoshop, games) a proper mouse always wins.
