Magic: The Gathering in Reading

Wizards lost a lot of people with the amount it changes the cards. i 1st played on antiquites and 3rd ed was out along with Legends. Now adays, it seems to change every month!

Still, if i found some were to play in Leeds, id join in again, although i sold all my cards years ago lol... Still, i enjoyed the game including the Unglued set.

I was at a GenCon where they brought out Unglued for the 1st time. Sat at a table with all these odd cards 'demin walk' for one. I looked at a card and it said target player takes 2 damage. Me being me, asked my mate on the table across the room how much life he had, he said 17 but its going to be a draw as his oppentent is on 2 but has a great defense, so i burned him for 2 damage lol.. the whole room went quiet, about 200 people and the penny dropped with 199 palyers that it says target player and not oppentent lol... The main guy from the Magic, big huge guy called Colin gave me a box of 5th edition for being the 1st to work it out lol...

Also had the prize of 10 unglued packs for working out when they ripped up the card they need to throw across the table, you cant cover your cards or move them out the way. But i worked out as the guy throws it 6 foot from the top of the table at least, wait until the bits are falling down and blow hard, it covers all there cards and they get upset...

Loved that set lol... can you tell...

So, anyone in Leeds play?

And I'm pretty sure that Games Workshop have been posting losses, the models are just too expensive, they aren't selling enough of them.

Making models isn't expensive - running lots of retail stores is.

Although saying that, making plastic models for short runs can be a lot more expensive than lead/white metal.

Dude, that sounds legendary :D

I don't play any more, haven't done since Kamigawa block. Did enjoy it though and qualified for National Championships several years on the trot. Found constructed to be much more fun than limited.

Seems they did indeed post a loss last year: GW Annual Report 2007 (PDF)

Lots of analysis in there, and the Chairmans Preamble section is worth a quick read for those interested. I wonder how much of an earner the forthcoming Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning MMORPG is going to be for them?

Not really, both fall under the category of geek. But you believe what ever you want to make yourself feel cool :D

Speak for yourself.

I post here to pass the time at work and i can get away with it because it is a computer based forum, and i have a vague interest in computers. I'd much rather spend my time at DNBA, i can swear and get away with what i want there :D

I dunno, i'd suggest that playing card games falls into the nerd category, along with attending LAN partys on a regular basis.

Having said that, i'm not sure any hard and fast rules are set out, perhaps we need a thread to settle this.

Have any of you lot seen a pair of breasts in three dimensions?

Your own and your mothers don't count.

Geek anti-geek sentiment is pretty low dude. Why not start out by telling us how well endowed you are, how well paid you are, how much better your life is than those around you?

Thats the way to make friends!

Ahh, memories. I remember paying my mate £4 for a Sengir Vampire (or something) back in year 7. Honestly, the **** I used to spend money on.
