The wizards of Arrowhead Studios have whipped up something special for all the Magicka fans out there, today revealing the first expansion for the definitive "blow-up-your-friend" simulator that has taken the fantasy world by meteor storm. Magicka: Vietnam (yes, you read that right) will soon be available on all major digital distribution channels.

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if wizards were allowed to roam the jungles of war-torn Vietnam, attempting to bring peace and stability to the region by casting spells on all opponents? Wait, you haven't ever wondered that? Ever? Okay, so we're probably the only ones who have but in our defense: here's your chance to stop being so closed-minded. Magicka: Vietnam delivers over-the-top action as players take on the role of four meek and physically inept wizards as they try to do what so many 80's action stars have done in the past: blow stuff up.

I just saw this. I love Magicka to tiny little bits, and this looks just fantastic. Let's hope it's not bugged out like the original release.

Well yeh, all expansions should get one for whatever game

It's not as if it's a DLC

DLC and expansions can be the same thing, DLC just refers to the deliery medium, in which case will be digital for Magicka, so this will actually be DLC.

Yea, a DLC is just a downloadable mini expansion.

DLCs are pretty much used to release less content at a time for more money that a full expansion would cost.

But if a full big expansion was released online only, it'd still be DLC, as it ticks all the requirements. Downloadable, yep, and content, that too. Battlefield Vietnam is also DLC, as well as being a full expansion. It's just a shame that "DLC" has negative connotations due to the likes of Activision. To me, Borderlands DLC is exactly how DLC should be done, proper expansions, fair price and a load new content that isn't just about stupid gimmicks. I got about 40 hours of game play time out of the Borderlands DCLs.

Has the multiplayer got any better? Would've loved to play it more online but the pings would be so dodgy you'd wind up with crazy lag all the time.

Hmm I've been playing it over virtual lan (using hamachi) and there isn't lag at all, de-sync issue happens now and then on loading a new chapter though (black screen), to fix that we just rotate who hosts the server and that fixes it. Have to send the campaign.sav file first too of course^^

Edit: Completley stuck at the start of chapter 5 now, black screen for both of us every time, works single player only =/ wtb patch to fix this, otherwise I really enjoy the game :p
