magicool radiators

Yes, they are available, but they are not always called Magicool. If I recall correctly there are only really three or four radiator manufacturers in the world who make PC sized radiators so you'll find that XSPC, Magicool, Alphacool and several others all have exactly the same radiators under a couple of different names. I think that Swiftech and Black Ice are the same basic units and that AquaComputer and Feser are manufactured in the same factory to slightly different design specifications. And there's some crew in the UK called Thermochill who make a few radiators as well.

Which one is it you're looking for in particular? If it's the big 360x360mm panel radiator then search on Alphacool Watercool MO-RA 2 Pro (Expert Radiator). All the other 'Professional' range of Magicools are also sold in the UK by Alphacool and XSPC do the UV coloured ones so there is no reason why OcUK shouldn't be able to stock them.

Me thinks WJA96 has only just woken up to say that the Magicool and MO-RA 2 are the same or is confused by the 9 fan shroud looking the same :)

Some say Magicool make their own radiators in the far East but others say they are under a devison of Eastar which is a company from China that makes cheap Radaitors.

The Magicool 9 fan extreme is made like conventional flat tube radiators with plenum chambers top and bottom to even out pressure and flow.

The Alphacool Watercool MO-RA 2 Pro is a old fashion radiator made by Cape Cora based on Refridgeation cooling that uses one long tube with many bends and has been pretty much abandoned by the watercooling community for many years now as all the bends in the tube kill the flow and pressure of even high powered industrial pumps.

There was a review of the MO-RA 2 rad some years ago that showed that the flow was so bad that adding extra blocks into the loop increased temps by as much as 10 Deg but from what i remember that was running it passive without fans.

Errr - I bought a Mora from a UK competitor about 3 months ago and it effectively had 3 radiators in it. I actually talked about it in a thread earlier in the week, and what a pain in the backside it was to hook up. Maybe the Magicool comes with some pre-fabricated connectors, but I ended up getting aeroquip type ones made up by a motor factors.

I have no doubt that what Ice Tea says is absolutely correct - the Mora probably did use to be one big radiator, but they seem to have switched now. I do still hold by what I said about there only being a very few radiator manufacturers so if whoever it was decided to stop making the big radiator and sell a different one, then it makes sense that they would all have to change.

It sounds like it's worth checking with your supplier that it has 6 G1/4 threaded holes in it before spending the £120 or so on the Alphacool.

And, as the place I got mine from is also a Magicool dealer it seems that one way of another you'll find what you're after.;)

The first batch of Magicool Xtreme rads where freaking awful as they just took 3 standard Magicool triple rads and cut the side chambers open and soldered them together and the shroud was to cover the shoddy workmanship and the bent fan brackets down the middle where it had been tin opened.A french review site last year gave it a damning review as it leaked everywhere since then Magicool scrapped it and redesigned a new version and manufactured and frabricated it as a single rad design like all it's over rads but with 3 over 2 plenum chambers as shown in the pic and with standard holes for fit yourself barbs like any other rad.

So i'm unsure what Walter me old mate bought :D

The Mora I bought was indeed 3 360mm radiators fitted into a single shell with the inlet and outlets staggered so they had to be joined together with linking pipes. The build quality itself though was fine and even without fans it cooled well enough. 9 fans would have been silly, it went to the customer fanless but with it's shell cover on to protect the fins. I was using an 18W DDC and there were no flow issues at all. Bleeding was a doddle and apart from the fact that it looked like the front wheel arch of a rally car, it was very good indeed.

Anyway - I'm sure one telephone call to the UK importer will sort it all out;)

maybe as you say it is a new design for the Mo-Ra 2 to improve flow ? it can't be a early version of the Magicool chop and shut rad as you would have freaked when you got it :)

I'll try and find a pic of the early versionof the Magicool.

@ WJA96

I think this was a early version of the Magicool as you can see the shroud doesn't cover the side bars running down the middle where the 3 rads where cut open and soldered shut in the first rubbish early design before the new single fabrication.

Unless it's a new version with only two barbs instead of 4 :)

I'm totally lost and can't keep up with the changes in the designs :D

Unless you can get one of the 480's cheap at Ebay i would stay away from them until you can get some reassurance on the build Quailty

Nope - the one I had was like the picture you posted mounted on the case above except it also needed a connection across two barbs in the middle at the bottom.

Sounds like the Mo-Ra 2 that you bought is a totally different rad and design which doesn't Surprise me as Cape Cora never build cheap quality stuff being made in Europe as you did say yours was well made.

Of course, if you want properly quiet, and good cooling, you need a Lian Li S80B fitted with an Innovatek Konvekt-o-Matik, and a big passive reservoir;)

I dopn't know why it looks all scratched here - it's not, it's like new...

There's almost £20 worth of aluminium quick-connectors there. The two HD4850's in CrossfireX are passively cooled with Arctic Cooling S1's and it is absolutely silent with the inner covers on. I mean silent. It's so quiet it sneaks up on Ninja's at night for fun:D
