I'm looking for a maglite 3C style torch but not a 24+ quid.

I only need it to cut up and re make into a dive torch and it seems a lot of money when 50% will go in the bin.

Has anyone ever seen copies around?

why not buy a proper dive tourch? I could probs get a mate to refer you to some.

what do you need? just the casing?
the led torches from hongkong have a very nice and hard to brake aluminium casing. Got mine for £5 including postage.

There great I really don't see the point in spending lots on torches. These cases are super strong, even the rubber seals means you can drop it in a lake and it wont leak. LEDs last for years and the battery's have so much more power time than bulb torches. The only problem is some have slightly dodgy soldiering on them, which can be easily fixed.

I can't possibly see how they can sell a luxeon torch for that little, the LED itself should costs a lot more than the whole torch.

If I remember rightly LED isn't as good as a decent bulb underwater. I would go bulb like the OP suggested. How about getting a halogen bulb instead, a bit more expensive buy you could possibly get one inside your budget. :)

but I think all he wants is the case. So it doesn't matter whats in it..

bought a 3d cell maglight brand new at a boot sale for a tenner today, worth checking the tool stalls at boot sales and markets. :)

this is what i'm looking at making. see the chopped maglite. New lens, cut down and water tight. 10x 10000mha d cells to make a 12v cell.

Either a toggle switch on the batt case or a reed switch and external magnet on the head.
