I'm in the process of refitting my bathroom, and was curious as to whether anyone has fitted magnetically fixed access panels?

I'm planning the room to be fully tiled, but would like, relatively, easy access to isolation valves within the pipe boxing so I'm considering the option of magnetically fixing a panel to the box. The tile size I've chose would enable this panel to be 1 tile in size, and I'd just have to cut the grouting and tile adhesive surrounding it should I require access to the valves.

Has anyone done this before, and then cut the grout to gain access after the tiling?

I had a similar setup in an old bathroom, but had a vertical tile held in with magnets and sealed it with mastic/silicon sealant.

Be careful to match the number and size of the magnets to the tile weight. I initially fitted 4 magnets the size of 10p pieces to a fairly light tile and they were far too strong. In the end, I went with 2 smaller magnets in the centre of the 2 vertical edges.

Remember to leave enough room between the access tile and its’ neighbours to allow you to get a hook or L-shaped tool in to remove it!
