All over the world...
So really need to get round to buying one for my car. I was looking at the journey MagSafe charger and it seems pretty good.
Not sure what the charging speed is on them. As the one I have now, an el cheapo amazon one is quite slow at charging. Not sure if it’s a MagSafe one as my wife bought it for me a couple of years ago when I got my iPhone 12 Pro. Magnets are quite weak and a few times my phone has fallen off whilst going over a bumpy road etc.

So can anyone shed any light on the journey one before I slap down £40 odd quid. Things like how strong are the magnets and what is the charge speed on them like??

TIA.

Thanks bud, I’ve heard the magnets are strong so that’s good.

Think I’ll get one and of it doesn’t seem good then I’ll just return it and look at other options.
Did you order the Journey car dock?

Been looking at a MagSafe car mount myself but it’s a minefield out there can get the above with a promo code “take20” for £35.95

Edit: Took the plunge and ordered one, first MagSafe wireless charging car mount I have ordered so we shall see :)

Hey sorry for delay, yes I ordered one with the same code but paid for express shipping. Ordered on Friday and got it yesterday.

First impressions are it’s very well made, magnets are very strong. It holds my 14 pro very securely. Going over bumpy roads, it hold really strong but I notice it wobbles a bit. Even though there is a stabilising bar on the bottom which you flip down and is meant to stop the wobbling. But doesn’t seem to work very well but compared to my last one, it’s much better. Although when locked the phone it doesn’t give you the green circle like the official MagSafe accessories do.

Do I like it?? Yes. Was it worth the money I paid?? I would say yes at the moment it is.

I think the jouney ones have to be used with a case.

Have a look at this one - https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/holders/Apple/iPhone+12/216177.htm

Has little feet to help secure it.
Not necessarily, I’ve used mine without the case and it holds very well.

I was considering the Brodit ones, I remember @Feek posting up a picture of his car holder. But can’t seem to find it lol because it looked really interesting. But not sure how it secured to his air vent??

What makes you say that?

I’m sure I seen on the site it says use with MagSafe case. I’ve just checked the site and can’t see it at all now so maybe just made it up!

2X STRONG MAGNETS

No More Falls and Drops!

We use our proprietary magnetic system that is 2X STRONGERthan MagSafe magnets. The MagSafe compatible mounting system allows you to mount your iPhone using the inbuilt magnets in iPhone 14/13/12 and later without the need for any extra accessories such metal plates. Must be used with MagSafe Compatible Case.

I read that as it has to be used with a case?

Could be a game changer for those who haven’t already got the above one.
£100??? You gotta be kidding me . £100 for a piece of plastic, wire and cig adapter?? Lol

Think I’ll stick with my journey one which cost me £40 and does the job. Not full 15w but that doesn’t bother me.

The official MagSafe changer from apple is £45 and the Brodit is £55. So you’re £100 anyway.

Be as well getting that for the same price and getting the full 15W charge, no?

Breaking any product down the same way you have regardless of what it is will sound dreadful :D

The journey one looks good but I’d be concerned about using it without a case and it scratching the back of my phone (and the way i read it as saying it must be used with a magsafe case).

My MagSafe Journey with wireless charger has been really good! Changed the usbc to a 30” black braided cable as I’m a bit ocd in the car with neatness :) as you say it’s not a fast charger but fine for me

And as I said earlier in the thread, the journey car charger works perfectly fine with a bare phone ie no case. As for scratching the back of the phone, I’ve been using it without a case for past few weeks and no scratches whatsoever.

My only issue with the journey is that going over bumpy roads, the top of the phone wobbles. Especially when doing 70+ on my m25 as sometimes I do, it has a funny wobble to it. But other than that, it’s better than my el cheapo Amazon MagSafe charger I was using with my 12 pro for the last 2 yrs
