Mahoosive cooler on offer

I'm dubious on Corsair air cooling components, have a look at Arctic, Sythe, and ofc Noctua. Arctic has better performing cpu coolers irc than the Corsair at a lower price

you are correct, gamers nexus slated it

Lol relatively bad compared with cooler that is twice the price. And this cooler runs hotter by 1c. OMFG the sky is gonna fall down.

resident drama queen of YouTube tech channel - Steve Burke of GN.

it is a cracking deal for anyone wants air cooler at a budget that can compete with average AIO

It may not be the best, but at the current price pretty compelling, more so as others retailors selling it for £30.

Noise normalised @35db in his review, it trails the Assassin 3 by 2 degrees, that cooler goes for £60-£70. Other one, on par with Noctua NH-U14S which is £60.

So yeah not a great at RRP, but at this current price for the performance, not at all bad.

As for why it dropped, literally think the flak they took done damage to it and corsair just exiting the air market again.

If I remember that review correctly, it's also a very noisy cooler. The fans have to run at high rpm to compensate.

Shame Zalman isn't making stuff like the FX70 and 100 any more - I'm using one on my 4820K (overclocked) with a single slow speed 120mm fan and it keeps it almost as cool as a fancy AIO (which I had on originally) with less noise even than an AIO and less concerns about potential for leaks, etc.

Don’t need to change fans, check the noise normalised numbers. Not the best, but 2 or so degrees behind when all normalised to 35db is fine when it’s half the price. Sure full sticker price just grab the others as it did not make sense. But for a degree or so behind when all running quiet and it’s a non issue imo.

That adds to cost. And if the cooler isn't as good at shedding its heat the fans may just have to run faster anyway.
2 lots arctic p12 is only £10. Still miles cheaper than any of the aforementioned competitors.

the fan on there is ML120. Packet fans but noisy. For the a given low noise level the P12 can push more air as it is quieter. The 35db normalised test would put the stock fans at a disadvantage when compared with P12.

I run Arctic P12 and P14 pwm CO fans on my rads, they're great :D.

But when you add the cost of fans to the Corsair, there are other choices as well.

I don't disagree that for the sale price it's fine. But it's that cheap for a reason.

I nabbed one of these yesterday. Gets really good reviews and is a good price. One of my main reasons for buying it was that it doesn't have any issues with ram clearance and I've recently bought patriot viper steel ram that stands 4.4cm tall. Not sure what kind of clearance you get with the corsair cooler.

I am pretty sure thats one of the selling points of the Corsair cooler.. The fans have a ratchet mechanism that allows the fans to be moved up to clearance tall ram...

One of the downsides from the GN review on that cooler was the evenness of the contact plate. Apparently across all the samples they had they were terrible inconsistent across multiple points varying from a very small amount to very big.

nah, exaggerated. unevenness is taken up by thermal paste anyway. if it was that crap it wouldn't have been able to cool that CPU to the same point as Noctua.

just saying, watch the end results as opposed to the non-sense.
