I may be way off the mark with this one so please forgive me it this sounds silly.

I've just got a new phone, it's a Nokia E71, the phone has MFE installed on it, now I've got a few of my own domains that I use just for picking up mail form using POP accounts, my host 1and1 offer Microsoft Exchange can I sign up for one of these accounts use one of my domains and then be able to pick up emails from my E71. If so is it easy to set up or do you need a degree in nuclear physics :D

You'd probably be better off asking in Mobiles.

I run exchange at home - did nothing special setting it up. Had an N95 8Gb for a couple of weeks and connected using MfE with no problems - don't remember any details, but it wasn't complicated. Think it was probably just mailserver, username and password - the same settings 1&1 would give you for use in Outlook.

Thanks mate, all I have at the moment is access to MS Exchange through my account with 1and1, there is supposed to be some disc that they will be sending me, maybe it will become clearer then.

Cheers

I've tried setting up my E71, it connects to 1and1 ok but keeps telling mey my credentials are wrong

1&1 might have a guide on their site.

From what I could briefly clean from search, remember that the 'domain' part of the credentials isn't your domain, it's the AD domain, which is 'EXCHANGE' for 1&1.

I've managed to get somewhere, the problem I'm now having is my E71 seems to keep changing my password, I've got a 5 letter and 4 number password (9 in total) on my exchange account.

I go to the password field in my E71 and delete the one in there and insert mine and it changes it back to 15 characters every time, I've tried deleting the profile and made a new one but this password thing seems to be the problem at the moment

Doubt that's an issue - it'll be obfuscating the password by showing a random number of stars in the field. Windows has done it for ages now - dialup passwords, for example, always show as being about 10+ characters even if they're not anywhere near that.

Thanks, as you say it may be obscuring the password but it shouldn't tell me the password is wrong even when I know I've put the correct exchange password in.

I'll just have to keep plugging away at it, I've got to hit the jackpot sooner or later :(

Well you found more than I did, know wonder I recently saw them described as a budget host.

I'll have a look at that and post back.

cheers

csmager your a genious, thank you very much.

I'd had the domain down as 1and1.co.uk and it should have been exchange :D

Thanks for all your help.
