mailbox imap setup with 1and1... how?

Im baffled. Ive got a domain name registered with 1and1 and also now subscribed to the "instant mail" package.

Now...its easy to have mail forwarded but im struggling to configure outlook express to send and recieve. Ive also seen a guide on the site which shows you how to configure it but its lost me to be honest.

Any ideas

What is the problem? I used to have a 1and1 email addy and it was quite straightforward.

Do you actually have a mailbox assigned to your email alias? If you only set it up as "forward", then it won't actually have an inbox created so that's why it will throw up an error when you try to connect to it.

In order to use the 1and1 server as the email provider (Rather than just having all the emails forwarded), you have to use the Control Panel to create an email inbox so that mail is actually sent to that inbox rather than just forwarded.

Right, you do have a mailbox. Did you follow the instructions in the link I posted or had you already tried it?

Any chance of a screenshot of the error you get or perhaps a screenshot of Outlook at the stage where you get stuck?

All sorted now, thankyou for all your help.

I subscibed to instant mail and set that up.

You will tell me next that i didnt need that
