Main differences between these boards?

- Front Side Bus: 1600MHz
- Chipset: Intel P45 Express
- Memory: 4x Dual Channel DDR2 1200MHz (16GB Maximum)
- Graphics Interface: PCI-Express 2.0 (1x16/2x8)
- 3x PCI-Express x1 Cheaper has 1x pci-e x4
- 2x PCI Cheaper has 4x
- eSATA: 2x SATA 3Gb/s
- RAID: 0, 1, 5, 10
- LAN: 2x Realtek 8111C Gigabit LAN
- Audio: Realtek ALC889A 7.1 HD Audio

Thats what the expensive one has over the cheaper

as for which is better for you well it depends on you plan to use it for if you want raid possibly crossfire duel lan might be handy but i guess its not going to be utilised the extra fsb and ram speed will be very handy for over clocking

The more expensive one is a higher specced P45 chipset board with more features. It also has a ICH10r SB compared to the P43's ICH10. I think the "r" bit means it can do raid.

Here's a direct comparison of both boards.

it will give you more headroom and more room for upgrades in the future

i personaly think its worth the extra £30

In brackets almost definatly means when you over clock it it will go to 1600 fsb but it doesnt say that on the OCUK site :p

the p45 chip is a better and more revised chip than the p43 but in the end it is your choice

I just fitted a P43-DS3L for my brother yesteday and I'm thoroughly impressed with it especially considering it cost only a smidgen over £60. Its running a 1600mhz fsb no bother and has all the overclocking options you could ever need, if you don't need the extras of the DS3R then the £30 saved may be better spent elsewehere.

P45 is not a better or revised chip its of the same generation of design, it just has more features and is more expensive to buy and to add to a mobo

Gigabyte may supply P45 with slightly better supporting components and more bios options. But if the basic boards and bios's are the same and you dont need raid / esata and 3 ethernet you can save £30 and spend that on say a better cooler or psu
