Main reason behind high ping

What are some of the reasons for high ping, or how could I get a lower ping? I'm on AOL at the moment (lol) and want to change. What'd be the best to go for to get lower ping, better connection for gaming? I get 45-70 ping on UK servers which is pretty pants...

congestion on your isp's network, congestion on servers hosting games, issues with other networks ect ect i think you get the jist. The internet is always under preasure from variables.

See if you have interleaving turned on, if so get it turned off which should drop it by 15ms ish
