main taskbar on the wrong display (XP)

This is really starting to annoy me now. I have dual screens and in order to play games on the secondary one I need to swap it to be the primary, I use ultramon so I just set the primary to monitor 2 using that. Never used to have a problem with this. However, now when I do it, the main taskbar (with the start button) shifts over onto the right-hand-side screen which is now the primary, along with the ultramon extended taskbar. Obviously the taskbar should stick to the left screen. I have restarted numerous times and it makes no difference, and is highly frustrating.

I have seen the Microsoft KB article about this but the advice on there doesn't help. Anyone here got any ideas?

Swap the cables over from each monitor ?

Windows seems to normally favour one monitor so its best to not fight the power and if it wants output 1 to be the one with the task bar, then just make sure you plug your primary monitor into that output

on your display settings you can set the main display and drag the screens to whatever side you want via the same control window.

if you are using two screens the extended options greyed out there will be active. As I said, you can grab screen 1 and move it to the right of screen 2 etc.

excuse the large picture, but you can see whats going on here and that the setup is correct.
