Hi im new here & wasn't sure where to put this thread so here goes..ive been building & repairing pc systems for about 15 years but im very new to the more than quad core boards & processors, so i thought id upgrade my system to more modern hardware setup as its not been done for about 4 years or so. so i bought a MSI 760GA-P43 (FX) mainboard (not from here i might add) & an AMD 4.0Ghz piledriver FX Eight core processor as a bundle from a well known auction site, ive had it up & running for about 3 months. the other day i was looking around in the bios settings & saw the option to 'unlock processor cores' & without taking a moment to think things through i enabled it.. the system reset & my screen was blank so i turned it off & did the bios reset. when i switched the system on again everything seemed to be working. the hard drives were spinning up, fans on processor & graphics were going & everything seemed fine but still nothing on screen, ive tried switching from my graphics card to my on board graphics & still nothing so i took the battery from the bios & left for roughly 24 hours.. put it back in & still nothing.. im stumped. have i ruined the board or damaged the processor somehow? please help, thanks in advance.

I'm not sure on a solution to this matter, I assume you don't have a spare CPU you can try? (AM3 Phenom x 2 or athlon?)

The 'core unlock mode' is only really meant for phenom x 2 range of CPUs, some of which could be unlocked to a quad core (955-type) CPU.

You've tried most the resets I can think of. Its more than likely a motherboard rather than a CPU issue. Have you tried reseating the GPU? Just in case it got knocked.

To be honest though, with an FX8*** a motherboard upgrade wouldn't be a bad thing. A Board with better power regulation would be nice.

great thanks. ill take a look & think about it. thanks for the help. it's appreciated
next time ill take a little more time over it haha.
thanks again
