Hi folks,

Ive been looking over my equipment and I think its time to have a major reshuffle, as ive mentioned in a previous thread the 100-400L has to go, in favour of the 300F2.8IS, but ive also been thinking about the 20D, ive trying to remember the last time I actually used it.

Ive got the EFS 10-22 and EFS 17-85IS lenses which are both very nice, but, I simply havent been using them, ive been using the 50mm1.8 on my 1d2 instead and simply moving closer to my subject to reframe, rather then zooming. So ive think it might be in my best interest to sell off the 20D with both EFS lenses and replace it with the EF16-35LF2.8 and a 70-200LF2.8IS

I would appreciate any opinions on this move. The only downside I can see is that im losing the use of a spare body.

I would say it depends if your doing work in any professional capacity. If you are keep the second body as having a body fail while being paid would obviously be very annoying for you and the client.

If its just a hobby then go for it. All of the lenses you mentioned buying are stunning. One thing noticed, IIRC you have a 1dmk2. That's 1.3 crop so the 16mm wont be as wide as the 10mm your used to.

It is indeed just a hobby, so the spare body issue isnt really an issue.

I very rarely use the 10-22 @ 10mm, that said ive had it 7months and taken less the 100 shots with it in total.

Also Im hoping that within the next 3 months I will be getting quite a nice lump sum payout which will buy me a FF DSLR.

If you're not using a lens then it does seem a bit pointless to keep it.

If you're definately selling the 100-400L in favour of the 300mm F2.8, then you'll surely need something to fill that gap from 50mm to 300mm, so something like the 70-200mm F2.8 would do the trick nicely.

I think a kit of 16-35mm, 50mm F1.8, 70-200mm F2.8 and 300mm F2.8 would cover pretty much everything. :)

Selling the unused lens now to part fund the ones you want is the way i would go. As i would personally keep the 20D and the 17-85mm to sell together closer to the time of your payout.

just out of intrest. What price are you looking for on the 10 - 22 ?

like posted above. Pro work will require you to have a spare body. and the gap does need filling.

I have no clue really, a quick check on the auctions suggests I should be looking for about £350 inc the Hoya SuperHMC pro1 77m Skylight(b) filter. (I would want to keep the lens hood as its the correct one for the 16-35 IIRC)

Id probably try and move the whole kit on in 1 beginners bundle, 20d + 17-85 + 10-22, throw in my spare Lowepro bag and a 2gb CF and aim for about £1300.

You would probably get more selling them separately. Also all Ls come with lens hoods so you wouldn't need to keep the 10-22 one.

Selling separately would definately be the better plan, slightly more effort, but you'll make a bit more money.

Cheers didnt realise about the hoods.

Suppose your right about selling seperately, I just dont like the hassle of boxing stuff up and posting it out, what should I try and get, for the 20d and lenses then?

I was thinking £500 for the body w/Battery grip and 2 batteries, £350 each for the lenses, both have correct hoods and Hoya Pro1 filters fitted from new.
Condition wise the lenses are pretty much as new, the 10-22s box has been butchered so I could send the barcode in for the redemption. The body is also in very good condition, with only minor signs of use, scuffs etc (approx 5k shutter cycles)

Is that too much to ask for them?

Those prices look good to me when you take into account the hood / filters included. I'd expect the 10-22 especially to sell quickly at that price (I would have taken it off your hands if I hadn't just bought a Sigma 10-20).

Sounds about right. Let me know if you intend to sell it, i'm interested inthe 20d.

Why doesnt anywhere stock the 16-35 f2.8, 70-200f2.8IS and 300f2.8IS lenses.....

Been to three major camera stores today and the only one had any off them, It was the 16-35 and I really liked it, however, I want to get all three at the same time on 12month interest free.

Now im waiting for 2 of the stores to get them all in stock, the quickest store gets the sale.

I had a quick search as well for you at an online UK place i use and it has 2 out of the 3 lens you are looking for. Just the 70-200mm out of stock with them.
