As some of you know I've been very quiet on this forum, and for quite some time - It's because I've been working on a new "uber" project, something massive and completely unique - this has never been done before in the UK as far as I am aware.

I got the brief 13 months back, and have been busy beavering away on it ever since! It's been a long series of ups and downs for me, but it is almost finished.

A quick teaser pic for you.

The brief was highly complicated. I had to produce a completely custom case from the ground up - The case had to be a one-off, and made from the best quality aluminium. He wanted it as aesthetically pleasing as possible whilst remaining versatile and mobile yet it had to support a dual single stage phase setup, custom water and provide a series of custom hard drive caddies to cool his SCSI array. This project was a monster from the outset but I was up to the challenge!

What follows is a series of pics from various stages of the project. Hope you enjoy!

lol guys :D I've "almost" finished the project - but there's still a fair amount of work to do. I've yet to fit the acrylic, the mesh, and install the phase setup - then I need to test the water cooling, and bingo, I'd say it's complete :)

Anyway, on with the show. I started out with a fairly basic design, which worked quite well - we ironed out a few problems and then turned to CAD. The results of which you can see below. My overall aim was for simple lines, clean surfaces and Bling!

I decided to make some aesthetic improvements at this stage, along with some more practical ones, and added these in. All along I had been testing out ideas and theories. I had a fairly good idea what I wanted to see, and it's actually exceeded my expectations.

Here are some of the finer details - the rivets and finishing.

After months of fiddling I had got the panels designed and cut. I had used exceptional quality aluminium but it was untreated at this stage. I wanted as much bling as possible according to the brief, so I decided to chrome her up. The panels polished and finished, here are the results :D

Note: For size gurus, that motherboard tray (all custom by the way) is ATX-E!

You'll notice some additions to the design at this stage - I had opted for more internal cooling, so added a few extra blowholes, and I wanted bespoke optical bays at the rear of the case, for any extra eventualities. I then got my guy to work on the touchscreen installation!

You'll notice the side panel on the pic above. Ultimate Bling! I have yet to install the acrylic.

The final pic - this is where I'm at. I have acrylic on order and I'm working on the mesh front panel - not sure where I'll end up with that, but the important bit now is the phase installation. And for those that care I've chromed up some custom water blocks too - this system will feature Quad SLI using 7950 GX2 full coverage blocks, silver chipset blocks and chromed up hard drive blocks. It is a beast in every sense.

WOW

Very nice Phil. What are the dimensions of it? Looks like a super tall MM case. How much has that cost to do then?

I can't wait to see it finished. :D

How many optical drives will be installed when the project is complete?

He's got 8 hard drives at present, so I have developed the cooling around that. He'll probably have a couple of opticals too - but there's plenty of space. :D

Thankyou! It's roughly 800x600 so its HUGE, oh and its probably not far off 75kg when fitted.
