hi

i just purchased the netgear wg311v3 pci wirless card

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...-011-NG&tool=3

i installed the software first like the manual said, turned off my computer, installed the pci card into my available pci slot and then turned my computer back on.

now in the manual it says that the netgear software will automatically load and then install the card for you.. this didnt happen so i went around finding the program on my computer.. i load that up and well nothing happens, i try downloading a newer version of the netgear software but there is the still the same problem.

has any1 for any ideas of tips please

ps i have installed wireless cards perfectly before in other pc's so its not that i have not installed the card properly into the pc itself

thanks

I find some wireless software to be quite flaky like that. It would be better to use the Windows built in wireless software and just point the 'Found New Hardware' wizard to the driver itself.

Has Windows actually detected the card? - check in Device Mangler. If it has, then Duke's suggestion is as good as any. But if you plan on going down this route, uninstall the Netgear software first and then remove the card. Reboot without it. Then install the card and use the M$ driver install system. If it hasn't, uninstall the software, remove the card, then start from the beginning. I've had problems with similar cards (the T version) not seating properly.

My experience of Netgear drivers though, is that if you don't get it right first time, you probably never will.
