Mate of mine picked one up recently Retail box, and he is having an incredible spate of crashing since.

He upgraded from a 4000sd and fully reinstalled XP sp2 and tells me he has also applied an AMD patch that apparently fixed these crashing issues... but hasnt.

He is saying to me " Every time the running process swaps cores the machine is hanging or conking out."

Its happening in nealry every game hes playing and is getting to be a complete nightmare.

If you need other Hardware details ill ask, all suggestions greatly appreciated.... Could it be a power issue??? He is using a shuttle case (smallish PSU i assume) THats my 1st idea, can you debunk that.

Thanks.

Oh noes! says:
AMD ones crash in DX9 games
Oh noes! says:
unless you force it to run the game on just one core
Oh noes! says:
which means ******* about with setting the core affinity for every game
Oh noes! says:
there is a little program from AMD which is supposed to stop you needing to do that, but it doesnt seem to work

An update.. from him

Is this gospel truth? its a s939 btw

I havent come across a single game yet where there is a need to mess with afinity :| and I have a fair few games that I play reguarly new and old.
