Decided to go back to my AMD Phenom II X4 965 setup from my core i7 as my main rig.

Reinstalled windows fine, installed ATI HD5750 drivers fine. No windows Aero, reseated card, reinstalled and redownloaded drivers from various places, still no luck.

Restarted and it froze on the POST screen, how odd. Restarted and went into BIOS and set defaults.

Restarted, and changed a few things (boot from cd etc...) and i thought i would reinstall windows again.

For the past 7 minutes now i've been looking at a black screen with a white underscore flashing at me whilst i wait for the "Boot from CD/DVD press any key"

Any ideas before i chuck this system out the window?

Specs are:

ECS A785GM-M board
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.2ghz
4gb crucial ballistix tracer 1333mhz running at rated voltages, timings and speed.

Thanks,

Andy

Ok i unplugged the only other USB device that wasnt my mouse or keyboard, which is my printer.

Windows is now loadinf files and hopefully will install ok.

Any ideas on the windows aero issue i was having?

Also, im not sure why, but in bios it recognizes my 2 hard drives, and also in POST but within the boot order, i can only select one drive :S

I'm now at the partition screen, and it's not recognizing my Seagate drive, any ideas as that has EVERYTHING on it.

Now im installed. So im about to install ATI Catalyst 9.10 but last time i did that, i didnt have aero and my windows score was 1.0 for graphics.

Shouldn't Aero work without the drivers though?

Are both drives connected to same controller?

Is chipset's storage controller set to AHCI or RAID mode?
In that case try offering approriate driver for installer. (or if drive is connected to some extra controller)

I've tried the drive on my other rig and it shows up in bios fine, just going to connect it to this one again.

EDIT: Reconnected with a new SATA lead and its fine.

So how about the aero issue, any ideas?

EDIT: Aero working now, maybe my computer was having a funny 5 minutes lol
