Major Problems

Ive just changed my heatsink, which pretty much involved disconnecting everything and now I have bad problems following the rebuild when attempting to boot:

1. BIOS only recognizes 1 of my RAM modules, a single 8GB, and not the other 8gb. It is the same ram, properly seated in the same slots

2. Windows boots, but only partially. I am using windows 8 and while it has the little blue window logo before it gets to the password screen I get a inch strip of random green across the top half of the screen and it just immediately turns off.

This seems quite worrying to me. Anyone got idea whats going on?

Thanks

You could have over tightened the cooler and are bending the board and now not making great contact with the cpu+socket pins.

Good suggestion, but I forgot to say that I did in fact get it to run properly having remounted the cooler. The exact point of it not working was today when I decided to do some better cable management and reconnect

I never removed the CPU.

Bizarrely, it is now working. I disconnected and reconnected the SSD and HD SATAs on the mobo. So perhaps it was just a bad connection? Odd that it would boot at all though isnt it, and always crash and turn off at the same time?
