3200+ xp
Abit NF7-S2G
9800pro

whilst playing tiger woods pga tour 2006 (not on high specs) after about an hours play i start to get slowdown in play with serious "jerkiness"....

the cpu temperature is at 59c (under load) is this the prob ....

or can anyone help....????

cheers :D

That is getting quite high. The graphics card may be slowing down due to heat as well.

If you can answer a few questions we can probably help you better:

Are you runnging stock coolers on the CPU and graphics card?
If not, are you using AS5?
What case have you got?
What Power Supply have you got?

 OMG, I would take the heatsink off, clean both the heatsink and CPU with alcohol and apply a thin layer of AS and install the heatsink.

Agreed !!!!

However, I doubt the problem is due to heat tbh.. these chips can run at extreme temps before they show signs of failing. I had an old XP2600 running at 65 and it was fine.. when it creapt past 78, the system stoppped as that was it's cut-off as set in the BIOS..

That incident did no damage at all once i sorted the HSF out.

My point is, that the system should shutdown before it gets beyond an acceptable point rather than showing signs of slow down.

i'm wondering if it's a disk problem or paging problem..

Can you check your page file size..

thanks all....

i will reapply some new thermal paste at weekend and clean the case out etc....

but will post on her page file size results later....

cheers :D

the available disk space is well enough as its a fresh format....

could the graphics card be overheating....????

will check using ati tool....

will post results here....

cheers :D

hi all....

i cant find a program that will tell me my graphics card temperature....

any help....

ati tool....wont let me with the 9800pro although it will with the X1800xt....

cheers :D

AFAIK the 9800 cards do NOT have a temp sensor so there is no way of seeing how hot it is.

Only thing you can do is run with the side removed and an extra fan pointing at the videocard.

Try running Scan Disk on the drive.

This can also cause in game slowdown if it needs to be run to correct errors.

anyone any ideas....

or is it cause mt psu is pants....

cheers :D

When was the last time you cleaned inside?

How long has the HSF been mounted to the CPU, if longer than 18months then cleaning and re-sealing with some arctic silver would be a good idea.
