Hi guy's,

I'm at a mate's house and we've got a bit of a problem on :(

We've done everything, run NortonAV, Spybot, Adaware, TuneUp 2006 scans (With selective startup?) - disabled all the dodgy plugin's that were running in IE6? But we can't seem to clear those two little icons in the system tray?

Any ideas?

Cheers,

SW.

I had this exact same message round my friends house last night. In the end, I just deided to format her machine- much easier than faffing about with spyware removers etc and the machine hadn't been formatted for ages so I thought it would be a good time to do it :)

Often virus hide in your restore space so switch off system restore do all the anti virus and spyware again and see if it resolves the prob. Then switch system restore back on.

good luck.

:)

Coming from someone who deals with spyware/viruses daily for a living, glad to see someone doing the samething I do.

Tbh theres no point messing about, and if your PCs owner hasnt backed up or has 100 programs installed its his own fault, keep your pc simple and it will remain simple !

I just cleaned that same spyaxe off a mates pc. I removed it successfully using adaware freebie prog and ran spyware blaster as a double check. I didnt need to turn off system restore but I wouldve if it didnt get rid of it the first time.

Any idea where or when you got it?

It was the payload of the first varients of the WMF exploit.

Another vote for PestPatrol as well. I run Ewido as my main anti spyware scanner/protection and I use PestPatrol as a back up, between them they will get just about everything.

Hey guys,

I maaged to clear the fault in my original post? Cheers!

But now I've found another problem? On all users (Even though their all set up administrators?) Ctl + Alt + Del doesn't work?

This error is returned?

It's wierd though, because a Spybot scan generally repairs it?

Any ideas?

Cheers,

A lot of spyware stuff disables access to the task manager to stop you from ending their processes.
I thoughts that's what might of happended but I didn't want to start playing around with the registry :)

Cheers for the link - I'll let you know how it goes?

Cheers,

thats SPY AXE, evil little bugger, boot to safemode and run your anti spyware prog, theres a few sites that have progs to remove the whole damn lot in one fell swoop, I'd go for them.
