Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. Make a decision for me!

sorry, that was before my time being interested in comps.
My 8800GTX 768mb is still running strong though :)
Mafia 2 is playable (quite well) as is FSX.

Nope. Your 8800 GTX 768MB was released in November 2006. AFTER that, GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB was released in February 2007, and GeForce 8800 GS 384MB was released in January 2008. If you have purchased anything below 512MB vram, I doubt it still runs Mafia 2 playable.

As I said, this was well before my time. I am absolutely clueless. I got the 8800GTX cos someone said it was the best. Between then and the 5850, I am useless.

Didn't a new gen of consoles come out round that time?

Right, going with the 6950. Will be going off to uni next year and I'd imagine money will be getting tight so i'll be taking the 2gb to stretch a little bit more longevity from it. Also very tempted to hold out for a couple of months and save for a GTX580. Oh well, theres always something new around the corner I suppose.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
My recommendation would be the 570 as it is more powerful and 1.3 GB is certainly more than enough. I'll dig uup an old thread proving my point. Gimme a while

Yea but how about in 2 years. And for some reason I can imagine Skyrim hogging a lot of VRAM, a game that i'm very eager to play on max.

It's not only that the 1.25GB of GTX570 can be insufficient for SLI in many games at 1080p max without lag spikes (e.g. Shogun 2, Metro 2033, Crysis, Warhead, Crysis 2, and many other games), but also it brings too much stress on the OP's PSU (which is only 650W).
